Maadhav @ Microsoft India Leadership Meet.

Maadhav was invited to talk about his personal and social impact journey at the Microsoft India Leadership Meeting, attended by 50 of the conglomerate’s leaders. It was an amazing opportunity to spread the word about Sarva Foundation. We’re are blessed to have benefactors like Ms Sangeeta Bavi at Microsoft and Mr Vivek Narain at The Quorum Club, who were instrumental in making this happen. Our journey has just begun!

Fighting on!

Having been unlawfully evicted, Aravindam Gurukul have been allotted a new location. Our practice room may be makeshift, but our results are not - two North India RSL Drum Performance Exam toppers in two years through all this turmoil clearly shows the resilience of our learners to succeed against all odds. As they say, the show must go on!

But, a new drum room is much needed as this one tends to get water-logged in the rains and is too compact to allow good acoustics. We’re looking to raise INR 90000 to renovate an existing room in the Gurukul to become our drum practice room. Any contributions are welcome, so please donate here: https://www.sarva.foundation/donate. You can also contact us for our bank details, in case of a bank transfer. Thank you!

We’re delighted to announce that Sarva is now also a student led club at Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon. We have started to enrol student mentors from the school, who can share the responsibility of training our ever-growing numbers of underprivileged learners. Our first student mentor members are:

Devesh Sharma - Drums

Shiv Chopra - Drums

We welcome more members who are proficient in other instruments such as Guitar, Piano, Violin, Tabla, Sitar, Indian/Western Vocals etc and will work to create an entire eco-system of student mentors and under-served learners who will benefit from each other. Love All Serve All!

Four more learners will record their exams in September, which is a 100% increase from 2020 to 2021.

Back to practice!

The Western Drummers resume practice at the new Gurukul location after 6 weeks of self-isolation and strife caused due to the devastating Covid second wave in India. 8 learners will appear for the RSL Drums Debut Grade, Grade 1 and Grade 2 Exams between July to December 2021. That’s double the number we had in the first batch.

Our learners persevere through the second wave!

Difficult times require innovative approaches. Maadhav had encouraged his learners to use utensils and pencils to practice during Lockdown 1 last year. In 2021, Tanish goes back to his books, pencils and our Youtube video recordings to continue his practice in preparation for his RSL Grade 1 exams. Nothing can stop us from reaching our goals!

Maadhav is a Distinguished Finalist at SoCA!

Great news!

Maadhav has been selected as one of the twelve Distinguished Finalists (from among 1500+ applicants) for the Primerica India Spirit of Community Awards 2021. This is for his outstanding contribution towards socio-economic upliftment of under privileged youth by providing with them vocational training in music (Drums). He has been invited to the Grand Finale on 21st March and could end up winning the Gold Medal along with a INR 3,50,000 (~US$5000) Scholarship!😊

The 'Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards' is an annual nationwide search to identify and recognize school students who have made a positive difference in their communities through volunteer community service.

Introduced in India in 2010, this programme is an extension of ‘The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards,’ the largest youth recognition programme in the United States, conducted by Prudential Financial, Inc. (PFI) for the last 25 years.

Over the last 10 years, more than 45,000 students have participated in this initiative by sending in their applications and of them, around 850+ students have been recognised for their remarkable community service efforts.
